Andy Landrum Receives Enslow-Hedgepeth Award.

Andy Landrum, of WRA’s Newport News office, was presented with the Virginia Water Environment Association's (VWEA) Enslow-Hedgepeth Award at the VWEA/VA AWWA WaterJAM Conference in Virginia Beach on September 11, 2019. The Enslow-Hedgepeth Award is presented to individuals who have shown exceptional service to VWEA and who have made outstanding contributions or accomplished outstanding achievements in the water environment profession. Andy has served on many VWEA committees for over 40 years and is a Past President, Board Member and WEF Delegate for VWEA.

WRA Attends Ribbon Cutting of I-64 Design Build.

WRA staff from Richmond attended the ribbon cutting of VDOT's I-64 Widening project. WRA was the lead designer on this $46.4 M Design-Build project. I-64 between the I-295 interchange (Exit 200) in Henrico County to the Bottoms Bridge area (Exit 205) in New Kent County was completed in August 2019, ahead of schedule and under budget. The highway was widened from four to six lanes.

Fairfax Office WALKS4KIDSHealth.

It was a beautiful day for VDOT's WALK4KIDSHealth fundraiser and some of our Fairfax office employees participated in the event. WRA employees pledged over $1,000. for the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital “leads the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases.”

Emergency Repair of Father Hurley Boulevard Recognized by CEAM.

WRA attended the County Engineers Association of Maryland Conference in Ocean City, MD last week. The Emergency Repairs for 66" CMP Culvert on Father Hurley Boulevard was given the Award of Merit - Medium Project. Danielle Conrow, CEAM President presented Brian Copley, Montgomery County, Mike Higgins, Concrete General, and Paul Duemmel, WRA with the award.

WRA Fundraiser for the Dream4It Foundation.

WRA employees donated $330 to the Dream4It Foundation through a jean day fundraiser. 

Among other initiatives, "the Dream4It Foundation raises funds to support numerous educational initiatives designed to provide youth with scholarships for higher education to empower them to successful careers."

Members of the Baltimore Chapter of Women in Transportation (WTS) raised $236 at their annual cupcake fundraiser! The proceeds benefit the WTS Scholarship Fund in memory of Nicole Washington, a SHA and MDOT Engineer.
