MD 210 Interchange Improvements.
WRA was responsible for the final design of the MD 210 Interchange Improvement Project as part of a design-build team of Concrete General, Inc./Whitman, Requardt and Associates, LLP.
MD 210 is a major connection between Washington DC and Prince George's and Charles Counties. Watch the video to see the $115.4 million improvements that will increase safety and decrease congestion along this heavily traveled road.
Back River Receives Recognition from ASCE MD.
The Enhanced Nutrient Removal at Back River Water Resource Recovery Facility was awarded the 2019 Outstanding Civil Engineering Achievement, Major Construction Project by the Maryland Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE MD). Per Struck and City Staff accepted the award at the June 6th ASCE Meeting.
Duemmel and El-Gazairly to Present at 2019 IBC.
Paul Duemmel, PE and Loai El-Gazairly, Ph.D., P.E. will be presenting before the International Bridge Conference (IBC) about the post-tensioned straddle bents for the US 301 over SR1 project for Delaware Department of Transportation.
The IBC is being held from June 10-12, 2019 at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland. WRA is proud to sponsor this annual conference.
East Riverfront Wins Project of the Year.

George Fabula is the former Director of Real Estate for the Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration and has over 22 years of experience in project, property and lease management. He has demonstrated the ability to lead project teams and has experience that includes transit, freight, strategic planning, budget management, contract negotiations, risk management, and team building. George has a strong understanding of State of Maryland and U.S.

WRA to Present Wilmington Viaduct Bridge Rehabilitation.
Loai F. El-Gazairly, Ph.D., P.E. will be presenting "Modeling UHPC Link Slabs for the Wilmington Viaduct Bridge Rehabilitation Project" at the Second International Interactive Symposium on Ultra-High Performance Concrete (2IIS-UHPC). The symposium is being held in Albany, New York from June 2 through June 5, 2019.
El-Gazairly to Present to ASNT.
Loai F. El-Gazairly, Ph.D., P.E, Associate will present at the American Society of Non-Destructive Testing (ASNT) in Richmond, Virginia on May 20, 2019. He will explain the retrofit and rehabilitation of the I-64 twin delta frame bridges over Maury River and Kerr’s Creek, Rockbridge County, Virginia, which were completed in 2017.

WRA Receives Grand Award from ACEC National .
WRA was awarded the Grand Award by ACEC National for the Enhanced Nutrient Removal at Back River Water Resource Recovery Facility. WRA's Dale Emerson, Karen Moran, Per Struck and Bill Wagner attended the Engineering Excellence Award Gala in Washington, DC along with Johnnie Hemphill, Lauren Swiecicki, and Gurminder Singh from Baltimore City's Department of Public Works.

Heavy Construction Contractors Association Recognizes WRA.
This $42 million project, located in Tysons Corner, Fairfax County, Virginia, improved the existing twin bridges carrying Route 7 over the Dulles Toll Road (DTR) and Dulles International Airport Access Highway (DIAAH). Each bridge carries two lanes of through traffic and one auxiliary lane and has a concrete sidewalk. The bridges were widened to accommodate 14 foot shared use paths on each side and to accommodate collector-distributor lanes under the end spans for the future Tysons Ramps project. The City of Richmond’s East Riverfront Transportation Improvement project has been selected to receive the 2019 American Public Works Association (APWA) Mid-Atlantic Chapter’s Project of the Year Award in the category of “Transportation, more than $5 Million, but less than $25 Million.” The project has also been endorsed by the chapter and submitted for consideration in APWA’s national awards program. WRA was responsible for design, execution, coordination and construction management of this high priority project.
