Spreading Holiday Cheer.
Architecture, Structural, Marine, Construction Management, Human Resources, and Security donated and stuffed 32 overflowing stockings for the Soldiers’ Angels. Some will be sent to VA Hospitals and others will be sent to soldiers living overseas.

Net Zero Grounds Maintenance Facility.
WRA has been awarded the design of a Net Zero Grounds Maintenance Facility for the Lake County Forest Preserve in the Chicago area. WRA is a subconsultant to Williams Architects of Itasca, IL. WRA will be responsible for all planning, conceptual design, equipment procurement and coordination support with the design team.
Pittsburgh Regional Office Wraps Up Grand Cayman Project.
Lindsey Ulizio and Scott Thompson-Graves had a productive week on Grand Cayman evaluating potential short-term solutions to alleviate growing congestion on the island. This trip was WRA’s sixth to Grand Cayman over the course of the project to develop and apply a Travel Demand Model and Traffic Operational Analysis Model for the island. The visit began with WRA’s presentation of potential improvements to Premier Alden McLaughlin, Jr. and members of the Caucus, and culminated with a helicopter tour of the island to view congestion that has grown since the project began.

Richmond Office Raises Money for BCRF.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and the Richmond office raised $1,350.00 for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF). 90% of all donations made to BCRF go to finding ways "to prevent and cure breast cancer by advancing the world's most promising breast cancer research."

PGAV Architects Teams with WRA for Missouri Water Service Center.
WRA, a subconsultant to PGAV Architects, is part of a team recently awarded the final design of the Kansas City, MO Water Services Center. The project will replace the existing complex with all new structures and yard components. The design will have heavy emphasis on phasing as the complex must stay operational throughout construction. The estimated construction value is $200M.

WRA Assists to Consolidate Maintenance Activities in NYC.
WRA, as a subconsultant to Urbahn Architects in New York, is completing a master plan for the New York City Fire Department to consolidate all maintenance activities. The recommended solution is a 600,000 square foot facility with 7 floors of maintenance and vehicle storage. The construction estimate is $1.2B.

Andy Landrum Receives Enslow-Hedgepeth Award.
Andy Landrum, of WRA’s Newport News office, was presented with the Virginia Water Environment Association's (VWEA) Enslow-Hedgepeth Award at the VWEA/VA AWWA WaterJAM Conference in Virginia Beach on September 11, 2019. The Enslow-Hedgepeth Award is presented to individuals who have shown exceptional service to VWEA and who have made outstanding contributions or accomplished outstanding achievements in the water environment profession. Andy has served on many VWEA committees for over 40 years and is a Past President, Board Member and WEF Delegate for VWEA.

WRA Attends Ribbon Cutting of I-64 Design Build.
WRA staff from Richmond attended the ribbon cutting of VDOT's I-64 Widening project. WRA was the lead designer on this $46.4 M Design-Build project. I-64 between the I-295 interchange (Exit 200) in Henrico County to the Bottoms Bridge area (Exit 205) in New Kent County was completed in August 2019, ahead of schedule and under budget. The highway was widened from four to six lanes.

Fairfax Office WALKS4KIDSHealth.
It was a beautiful day for VDOT's WALK4KIDSHealth fundraiser and some of our Fairfax office employees participated in the event. WRA employees pledged over $1,000. for the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital “leads the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases.”
