Pam Destino is 2021 President of WTS Baltimore.
WRA is proud to announce that Pam Destino is the 2021 President of WTS Baltimore. She will be working with Carrie Casto (Stantec), Veronica McBeth (Kittelson and Associates), Serese Aranha-Scott (Brudis), and Danielle Hankins (RK&K). Together, they will work to advance women in the transportation industry through virtual networking events, guest speakers, and other outreach events.

2020 WTS Baltimore INNOVATIVE TRANSPORTATION SOLUTION Award.
The I-695 from I-70 to MD 43 Transportation Systems Management & Operations project won the 2020 WTS Baltimore INNOVATIVE TRANSPORTATION SOLUTION award, which "salutes an innovative transportation project, policy, solution or initiative successfully led or implemented by a woman." In total, over 30 women were involved with this project!

New Office Opens in Beckley, WV.
Whitman, Requardt and Associates, LLP (WRA) is pleased to announce the opening of a new field office in Beckley, West Virginia. This location will serve as a field office for our Construction Management and Inspection staff and is located to better meet their needs and those of our clients.

Governor Hogan Visits the I-895 Bridge Project.
The governor toured the I-895 Bridge Project to meet and greet work crews responsible for the bridge replacement and Baltimore Harbor Tunnel rehabilitation – the largest and most impactful part of the project. The bridge project is on track to be completed ahead of schedule.
The 60-year old I-895 Canton Viaduct was the only structurally deficient bridge on MDTA’s bridge inventory. I-895 is a major commuter route and is sensitive to construction sequencing.

WRA Engineers Clean Up Local Stream.
WRA Engineers Clint Martin, Kelly Ambrose, and Oliver Hoy joined fellow American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Maryland Section Younger Members on Saturday, October 10th for a stream clean of Cooper Branch – a tributary of the Patapsco River in Oella, MD. Among the many items of rubbish recovered from within the streambanks were a bicycle wheel, a wheelbarrow, and a plastic trash can. An eastern box turtle was also observed enjoying its freshly cleaned habitat. The event was hosted by the ASCE MD Section Younger Member Group with the assistance of the Patapsco Heritage Greenway.


Andy Cooper Receives the Chair's Honor Award .
Congratulations to Andy Cooper for being awarded the Chair's Honor Award from Chesapeake AWWA. This award recognizes a volunteer who provided distinguished service to the Section. According to CSAWWA, "Andy drove the Amendment to the Bylaws, which was no easy feat! With the help of his father, Andy was determined to see this effort through."

Mays-Burton Barn Renovation.
Recent structural engineering hire Samantha Arenberg, EIT and Senior Vice President Jeff Giza, PE of WRA’s structural/marine group were on hand to observe 3D laser scanning of the historic Mays-Burton Barn on the campus of Hereford High School in Parkton, MD. The Mays-Burton barn is a 161 year old bank barn on the Baltimore County Final Landmarks list. Utilizing a drone and fixed equipment, the barn’s exterior and interior has been mapped. The final processed data will be utilized for plan creation to support the preservation efforts.
