Herring Run Sewershed Improvements. Baltimore, Maryland.
As required by Baltimore’s Consent Decree with EPA/MDE, sewer system improvements included both hydraulic and structural improvements intended to eliminate sanitary sewer overflows (SSOs) by providing additional hydraulic capacity and reducing infiltration and inflow (I&I). Rehabilitation techniques included cured in place pipe (CIPP) lining point repairs, replacement sewers, joint grouting and rehabilitation of sewer house connections.

Project Highlights
Collection/Gravity Sewers
Based on a review of CCTV videos, WRA recommend repair or replacement of damaged sewers. Cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) linings were the primary means of rehabilitation. Also utilized were joint grouting, excavated and non-excavated point repairs, and relining of sewer house connections.
Environmental
Tree surveys were conducted to develop a Forest Conservation Plan and a Tree Replanting Plan in Herring Run Park. A Joint Permit Application was sent to Maryland Department of the Environment and US Corps of Engineers for construction in the floodplain.
