Susquehanna River Jetty. Port Deposit, MD.
WRA provided comprehensive engineering services for the reconstruction of a historic Navy jetty along the Susquehanna River in Port Deposit, MD. To aid with permitting requirements, WRA designed the new pile-supported precast concrete deck structure around the original stone crib jetty. The project included a walking path along the Susquehanna River, a jetty for fishing, and an attached ramp leading to a floating dock to accommodate water taxi and private boat access. Value engineering was performed to ensure the project was completed without exceeding the available funding provided by State Highway Administration (SHA). The new facility was the centerpiece of the visit by the John Smith Four Hundred Project historic ship visit which celebrated and enacted John Smith’s visit to Port Deposit and exploration of the Chesapeake Bay in 1608.
