The Minnesota Army National Guard performs fleet maintenance operations from several Field Maintenance Shops. This project consolidated two of these facilities at a single site in Arden Hills.
The Army National Guard’s mission and new equipment requirements outgrew the original facilities built in the 1970’s. WRA provided planning, functional design and equipment selection for this new 112,000 SF facility consisting of repair bays, shops, wash stations, parts storage and administrative and personnel areas. The facility is configured with wings that house each of the two field maintenance operations. A central core consolidates personnel spaces and offices for the entire organization. Material storage and central distribution of lubricants are consolidated in support “nodes” in each of the wings.
