Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Experience. Maryland, Delaware & Pennsylvania.
WRA’s ITS experience includes both design and engineering support for the full range of ITS systems. Device design experience includes site, electrical, communication, and traffic barrier design for the installation of Automatic Traffic Recording Stations (ATRs), Weather Stations (RWIS), Closed Circuit Television Cameras (CCTV), Dynamic Message Signs (DMS), Highway Advisory Radio Systems (HAR), Road Speed Sensors, Over-height Detection, and Virtual Weigh Stations (VWS). WRA has also provided on-site engineering support services at the Delaware Department of Transportation’s Transportation Management Center (TMC), which included traffic studies and analyses, ITS device design, signal and detection design, communications design, plan reviews, contract administration, and inspection.

WRA has prepared designs for various projects for the full range of ITS devices, including Automatic Traffic Recording Stations (ATRs), Roadway Weather Information Stations (RWIS), Closed Circuit Television Cameras (CCTV), Dynamic Message Signs (DMS), Highway Advisory Radio Systems (HAR), and Road Speed Sensors.
Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) ITS Experience
WRA has prepared designs for various ITS devices along MDTA’s facilities, including site, electrical, communication, structural, and traffic barrier design for the installation of 53 DMSs, Solar Powered Flashers for advance toll signs, and a Roadway Weather Information Station (RWIS).
Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) ITS Experience
WRA has prepared ITS and communications designs for ITS projects along I-95 in Delaware including Digital Wave Radar Traveler Information System Project, Closed Circuit Television Traffic Monitoring Expansion Project, and Relief Route Signalized Arterial Traveler Information and Traffic Responsive Detection Implementation.
