Building 3072. Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD.

Supporting the Army's Combat Capabilities Development Command in providing integral research and development capabilities, WRA designed a flexible, modern working environment.

WRA designed the full renovation of this three-story, 42,000 SF historic building to provide a new modern, secure, flexible work environment for operations support. The building includes offices, open office flexible work areas, collaboration spaces, conference rooms, VTC conference rooms, secure office work areas, touch down secure communications cafe, a special access program space, break rooms, and storage.

Project Highlights

Architecture

WRA designed changes in ceiling heights and used materials to create a dynamic, aesthetically pleasing, and contemporary work environment. Attention to design details of how furnishings and finishes work together helped compose a sense of openness and flexibility.

Electrical

The power system includes switchboards, power meters, and environmentally-friendly transformers along with the building lighting system utilizing LED fixtures with lighting controls consisting of occupancy/vacancy sensors and photoelectric controls.

Interior Design

Working with the user's branding group, WRA developed a comprehensive interior design package including a total building finish concept with colors and materials that exhibit longevity. Finish boards and a complete furniture package were created.

Technology

WRA's telecommunications engineers designed separate secure and non-secure communications networks. Communications networks were designed for integration into security and audiovisual systems and future expansion.

Mechanical

WRA worked with APG DPW to design an energy efficient, low maintenance HVAC system for the building reducing water usage, optimizing energy performance, and enhanced refrigerant management along with thermal comfort measurement and verification WRA worked with APG DPW to design an energy efficient, low maintenance HVAC system for the building reducing water usage, optimizing energy performance, and enhanced refrigerant management along with thermal comfort measurement and verification from the Building Operation and Command Center.
