Transit Plan Vision 2045. Philadelphia, PA.
The first task included researching steps to reimage SEPTA’s commuter rail, providing high frequency, through service to the region. The solution was developed in collaboration with stakeholders from the City and SEPTA, based on previous rail service improvement proposals, operational and physical upgrades and incorporating the European high frequency through service model.
The second contribution to the Transit Plan Vision was an analysis of two high volume transit corridors, to determine what measures could be applied to increase bus speed and reliability. Two corridors were analyzed, 52nd Street and Lehigh Avenue, identifying average bus speed, rider load, key transfer locations, bicycle and pedestrian movements along the route, This was to determine improvements including far side bus stop, queue jump, bus bulb, bike lane and real time transit signage. Benefits including cost and travel time savings were estimated.
