Minnesota Department of Transportation (DOT). Rochester, Minnesota.
WRA’s Maintenance Facility Group provided sub-consulting services for planning, conceptual design, functional design and equipment selection. The new 122,000 SF facility houses all maintenance operations for District 6 and consolidates major maintenance from other areas outside of Rochester. The facility is organized into four major zones of activity: personnel welfare, fleet maintenance, field maintenance and storage, and heated vehicle and equipment storage.
The fleet maintenance operation is configured as drive through space with repair bays located along interior circulation aisles. The heated vehicle and equipment storage is combined with a heated wash bay to allow vehicles to be cleaned without exiting the building. This provides the District with facilities that prolong the life of vehicles and equipment.
