Gainesville Regional Transit System (RTS) Maintenance & Operations Facility. Gainesville, Florida.
WRA acted as the Maintenance Facility Specialist for the design-build team and provided conceptual and functional planning as well as equipment selection. The new facility is sized to accommodate a 200 bus fleet with a mix of standard fixed route and articulated coaches. The two-story main building includes administration and transportation offices, dispatch and drivers’ areas. The maintenance building is comprised of repair bays for the bus fleet and non-revenue vehicles, body and paint shops, support shops, support areas, parts storage and office and personnel areas.
A separate structure houses fuel islands and wash facilities. In anticipation of the use of compressed natural gas (CNG), the site has been configured for the future construction of a CNG station.
