26th Street Emergency Repair and Wall Reconstruction.

Baltimore, MD - The 26th Street Emergency Repair and Wall Reconstruction was awarded the 2016 MDQI Award of Excellence, Baltimore City - Projects Costing over $5 Million and the 2016 MDQI Project of the Year Award for Projects Costing over $5 Million.

How long would it take to design, obtain permits, demolish an existing 315 ft. long stone retaining wall, construct a temporary wall, and build a new finished wall in a non-emergency situation?  With design review and procurement, most consultants and owners estimate that the process would take at least 2-3 years.   Considering the project is aligned between a residential street to the north and a critical CSXT railroad line to the south, and bordered by two of the busiest streets in Baltimore on the west and east, some estimates would be even longer.  This project was substantially completed in 9 months due to the collaboration of several key entities:  the City of Baltimore, Whitman Requardt and Associates, Concrete General Inc., Hayward Baker Inc., CSXT and several utility companies.
