The Rochester Development project comprised the design of safety, operational, and maintenance improvements for the Rochester Transit Center and the expansion of an existing park and ride facility.
These improvements were part of an overall effort to strengthen the tie between transportation and the surrounding community. A busy hub of BTCA, the Rochester Transit Center is the ninth largest urban area transit system in Pennsylvania. WRA provided civil engineering services for the center, including lighting, resurfacing, gating, fencing, signage/pavement markings, stormwater management design, and ADA accessibility considerations for the bus platform area. For the park and ride project, WRA designed site improvements, consisting of the design of aesthetic and safety improvements to one existing lot, and lot expansion design on a former building site incorporated with the existing main lot. Design elements included utilities, stormwater management design, landscaping, decorative lighting, bicycle amenities, and sidewalks. WRA also prepared construction PS&E and bid documents for the park and ride facility. Finally, WRA provided construction consultation for any questions the contractor may have had and provided partial inspection for the client.
