On Call Contracts with MD State Highway Administration. Statewide, Maryland.

Under an on-call, statewide contract, WRA’s Water Resources group provided a wide range of services to the Maryland State Highway Administration Highway Hydraulics Division (HHD).

These services included H&H studies, SWM analysis/design and retrofitting, drainage complaint review and remediation design, QA/QC review at MSHA, geomorphologic investigations, and environmental permitting. Notable designs for outfall repairs include:

Repair of collapsed 24-inch CMP and failed slope by I-270 using 30-foot drop manhole and specialized fill, repair of the US 301 embankment at Governor’s Bridge Road using culvert headwall extension, repair of an eroded channel along MD 295, using a grass channel and drop manhole storm drain system, repair of failed MD 24 storm drain outfall, using drop manholes and a geosynthetic slope repair.

Notable stormwater retrofits include:

Retrofit design of seven failed infiltration BMPs along MD 32 and MD 100 in Anne Arundel County, Watershed planning and water quality retrofit design of nearly 20 acres of currently un-treated “legacy pavement” to meet TMDL goals.
