Balfour Street Entrance Upgrades. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
This facility’s vehicle entrance was upgraded and automated to accommodate an increase in traffic capacity and to improve security features.
WRA designed site and security improvements for the Balfour Street entrance of the NE Water Pollution Control Plant to become a primary vehicle access point to the site. The roadway was widened to accommodate trucks and a proximity badge reader and intercom system were installed in the median for secure, unmanned access control. After confirming the access card, the new automated gate opens and closes once the vehicle has cleared the safety loops. Two new CCTV cameras were added to the Balfour Street entrance to provide improved surveillance of entering vehicles and the adjacent secured perimeter. The replacement and upgrade of CCTV equipment components throughout the plant site was also designed.
