I-270 Interchange at Watkins Mill Road Extended.
AASHTO Daily Transportation Update featured the I-270 Interchange at Watkins Mill Road Extended (WMRE) in the Highways/Streets Section. WRA performed the preliminary and final engineering design services for WMRE. The design features a 623-foot long, 5-span, steel plate girder structure carrying ten lanes of traffic, a 1,439-foot Mechanically Stabilized Earth (MSE) retaining wall ramp structure, and a 720-foot MSE wall supported ramp providing an on-ramp to I-270 from the middle of the WMRE span.
